Are Covid-19 Antigen Tests Accurate?

Diagnostic Sensitivity:      98.10% –  Sensitivity refers to a test’s ability to designate an individual as positive

How To Store A COVID-19 Antigen Test

First of all, as soon as you buy your test and bring it home, it’s important you store it right. Every test is good for about 18-months once stored correctly at room temperature.

What Is In the Saliva Rapid Antigen Test Kit

Rapid Antigen Test

When you open the kit, you’ll find the following inside inside.

  1. One pouch containing a test cassette
  2. Sample extraction buffer
  3. Plastic cup
  4. Pipette dropper x 2
  5. Reaction tube
  6. Instruction Leaflet

Along with these items, you’ll also need some tissues and cleaning products for your work surface and hands. Once you’ve identified all of these items, your ready to get testing.

How To Use A COVID-19 Antigen Test

Once your ready to start here’s what you need to do.

Starting The Saliva Sample Collection Process

  1. Put your tongue on you upper jaw and bow your head to let saliva secrete naturally into the disposable plastic cup.
  2. Use a Dropper to transfer 0.5-1ml of saliva from the plastic cup to the reaction tube.
  3. Saliva Specimens may be stored at 2-8`dec C for up to 48 hours.

Testing Your Sample

Unscrew the lid of the tube buffer. Add all of the extraction buffer into a reaction tube with 0.5-1ml Saliva Sample

Shake evenly and keep the saliva still in the reaction tube for 1 minute

Shake the reaction tube again

Open the pouch containing the test cassette. place the test cassette on a dry , horizontal work surface.

Hold the dropper vertically and transfer 3 drops of saliva specimen to the sample well of the test cassette

Wait 10-15 minutes for test result to show.

Interpreting Your Antigen Result

How to understand the antigen test results

Now that you’ve done all that and waited for the full 15-minutes, it’s time to take a look at your test result. If you see just the one line beside the “C”, your result is negative. Two lines, one on “C” and one on “T”, means your result is positive for COVID-19.
